I have lived near some of the most beautiful ocean beaches for the first 30 years of my life…I love the beach, but I was stunned at the beauty of Lake Michigan! It was absolutely gorgeous! On the day we were there, the sun was shining and the sky was glowing a beautiful azure blue…
I decided to get a larger canvas out today and my palette knife. So this painting is done entirely with lots of gobs of paint and a palette knife. For those of you who have ever textured a wall, that is what I felt like I was doing. But it was fun to move the thick paint around on the canvas.
My daughter came downstairs and said, “Mom, I just love this, it’s so peaceful…” I love that she loves it. Hence the name… 🙂

Thank you, Shawna… I can only think of one other place I would love to sit and think and that is on a mountaintop. What is it about the ocean and the mountains that is so incredibly peaceful?
