I think this one will be a surprise to many, but I LOVE painting things like this… Couldn’t finish this today, but I thought I would give you a sneak peek at my new series… Guthrie Back Alleys
Why am I not surprised?! I think that maybe I’m missing something…
You notice the unnoticed things and find beauty in the practical, the every day, the mundane; those things others might never even see.
I like it. A lot.
I went to a submarine museum a few weeks ago. As I was going through the tour, I noticed at think about the rivets used to hold the vessel together. I think about the person whose job is to put together the pieces that make only one electrical control panel. I noticed the legs and back of the chair (that didn’t really belong to the time period of that vessel) because it is more the style of the 60’s and 70’s. But, I liked the strait and boxy, clean lines of the design. Anyway, it would take me nearly as long to explain all I thought as it did to take it all in.
I like it. I’m not surprised. I also want to know about it! That is what great art does, right?
Paula, Thank you for the incredible compliment. I love hearing about the submarine museum story. It made me think even more fondly about what I’m painting. Thanks so much. ❤
Yes – but I like it!
