Day 7 ~ the process

Most every morning my potter daughter and I go to a nearby lake before sunrise, drink coffee and process our thoughts and then walk. Lately since I twisted my foot and can’t walk very well, we’ve had to skip the walking. There is something so glorious about seeing God’s masterful hand in the sunrise and sunsets. Definitely a great way to start the day.

On our way home I spied an old dilapidated building by the side of the road and the early morning rising sun was shining across the front of it. I stopped to take some photos and feel the place out.

This is the beginning of the process…getting inspired.

Then comes the sketch… This isn’t always easy, but will help me immensely when I start my painting.

A little honesty here… I have been so uninspired by the Oklahoma landscape. My dream always has been to paint oceans and mountains, places I remember that I loved when I was growing up. But just maybe I have been looking in the wrong places. Maybe I need to find the forlorn, the lonely, the cast off and begin to make beauty from ashes. This may be a new beginning for me…just maybe…

    1. Thanks so much, Alicia! So glad you recognize it! I have passed by this place and took no notice for many, many years. Funny how that is. I’m hoping that more places will pop out at me. 🙂
