Day 5 ~ Remembering Ras Tanura

This painting is a commissioned piece for  a very old friend of mine from back in the days when we lived in Saudi Arabia… Yes, we did. In a town called Ras Tanura on the Persian Gulf. I’m sure everyone who has ever lived there remembers the beautiful turquoise waters and the white sand beach…

She wanted a painting of her and her 4 sisters and her mom on the beach. I pulled this painting together from several different photographs. The girls on the beach building the sand castle were actually in a photo decorating a Christmas tree. I had to come up with something for the mom and the littlest sister. The beach scene is from an actual  photo of Ras Tanura beach.

Sure brings back a lot of memories…

Day 13 ~ Black Sand Beach

I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for a year in my younger days… The beach that was closest to us was one of the most beautiful and unusual in the world… the Punaluu Black Sand Beach… Thought I would add it to my mini beach series…

Day 14 ~ Shoreline Stroll

This was inspired by a photo taken on the shore of Lake Michigan this past week.  What a beautiful beach.  We had a wonderful trip, and now I need to catch up on my 30 Paintings in 30 Days. 🙂

I bought 4 mini canvases and 4 mini stands that I’m going to work on today. That will bring me up to Day 18 and then I still have 5 more to catch up. Wow!
