Day 4 ~ Be Still and Know

Be Still and Know ©2017 Karin Naylor copy

8″ x 10″ oil on canvas

This is really a self portrait… I slipped on a black skirt and my barn boots one day, because my daughter offered to take some pictures of the shawl  I had just finished knitting. Love the way this picture turned out so I stored it away to paint it someday. First self portrait I’ve ever done.

I thought the painting had an contemplative feel to it. When the song “Be Still and Know” came on my Pandora station, I knew that was the title for it. 🙂

Day 5 ~ Sledding Fun

sledding 58″ x 10″ oil on canvas

It doesn’t snow much here on the prairie where we live, but one winter we had a really good snow, and the girl’s took full advantage of it finding the highest hill they could, which is not easy here on the plains. This turned out to be a fabulous sledding party.

This is day 5 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days. Leslie Saeta who is putting on this challenge for artists suggested that we do a calendar with 12 of our paintings. I thought this was a great idea, so I came up with a couple winter scenes.

Notice my women are faceless…for now, anyway…:)
